My love for trucks didn’t honestly start until I was old enough to afford one as an adult. I just never appreciated a truck’s practicality and versatility until I owned one myself. The truck I own is a mid-sized Toyota Tacoma but I use it for everything from going to and from work, hunting, camping, and hauling luggage to the airport. It always has room for exactly everything!
Even though I didn’t own my own truck until later on in life, doesn’t mean I wasn’t exposed to trucks earlier on. I moved from New York to Texas at around 10 years old. I don’t know if you know anything about the vehicles in New York, but hardly anyone drives pickup trucks. Streets are narrower and it’s more practical to drive a smaller vehicle since parallel parking is very prevalent.
As soon as I land in Texas, I notice that a good number of vehicles on the road were trucks. It was crazy! Eventually, even my dad owned a few trucks, one of which was a banana-yellow Nissan Frontier. At the time, I thought it was the coolest truck ever just because of the color. My dad even gave that truck to me during my time in the Marine Corps. It was so useful when I had to lug my Marine buddies around.
Fast forward to the present time with my Toyota Tacoma. I love that vehicle. It’s the perfect size for me since I’m not a big dude and neither are my wife and kids. It’s big enough to carry all my camping gear yet small enough to fit in any parking space.
Have any of you truck owners looked at your truck and wondered, “can my truck do this?” For example, I filled up my truck bed for an out of town trip but needed just a little more space for my large cooler. Boom! I discovered argo hitch racks!
Since I live in Houston, where streets tend to get flooded quite often, I’ve also wondered, “is there a way I can make my truck taller to lower the risk of getting stuck in high waters?” Boom! I found lift kits!
The point I’m trying to make is that I think it’s really awesome how you can modify, customize or upgrade your truck to fit your way of life. There are plenty of companies making different products to either make your truck look or perform better.
This is why I made The Custom Truck website. There are plenty of truck accessory stores out there but my main purpose is to educate you on as many of the truck accessories as possible. It’s true that many of the mods out there look cool, but are they actually good for your vehicle? That’s what I’m hoping to help you with.
So feel free to browse around, read an article or two, and learn something you didn’t know before. Thanks for stopping by!
